Bicycle Crossing 2024
4 Days 3 Nights

CODIGO PRODUTO: 014

Our bicycle crossing itinerary, before being an eco-adventure tourist route, the socio-environmental commitment of the event is as important as all the other details that make up this three-day, two-night event. Throughout the journey, we cyclists worry about our trash and the trash we find in nature. We collect and do not leave any type of trash produced throughout our expedition. The communities visited do not have periodic garbage collection, which means that when we leave our garbage, we make a fatal mistake with the environment. Therefore, our goal, in addition to appreciating nature, is to preserve and keep natural environments clean.

GEOGRAPHY AND LOCATION

The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, has a territorial area of 1,550 square km, is located in three municipalities in the state of Maranhão. Two degrees south of the equator, its territory is divided between the municipalities of Barreirinhas with 53% of the area, the municipality of Santo Amaro with 36% of the area, and the municipality of Primeira Cruz with 11% of the area. The park was created on June 10, 1981. Its geological age is around 400,000 years, the desert moves according to the direction of the wind, from East to West, somewhere between 10 and 50 meters per year. Its lagoons come from the rain that floods the Maranhão water table. Between May and June, some lagoons reach very high water levels, which causes the dune barriers to break, creating a burst of running water that heads towards the ocean, thus ending the life and beauty of some flooded regions. . The organism is ephemeral and provides us with different landscapes at different times throughout the year.

ABOUT THE LOCAL CLIMATE

The expedition takes place in April, while there is rain, the reason is that the more it rains, the better it is for cycling in the desert. The rains start in January and end in May, the ambient temperature during this period is somewhere between twenty six and twenty nine degrees of heat.

BEST TIME TO DO THIS TOUR

The best time for this tour is between the months of April and May, while there is rain, naturally, the rain calendar can change to start earlier and end earlier, which changes everything we said about a good time. Always check how much rain is happening in the region before booking the tour.
