The Casa Farinha Kayak tour is an ideal tour for those who still have half a day free before leaving Barreirinhas for their next destination. The tour visits the village of Tapuio, with its beautiful river beach and of course our cultural exchange with the visit and lecture on cassava culture.
GEOGRAPHY AND LOCATION
Vila de Tapuio is a more rural and less developed area compared to the city of Barreirinhas. Life in the village is simpler and more traditional, with many of the residents involved in activities such as subsistence farming, fishing and tourism. Visitors exploring the region often include a visit to Tapuio on their itineraries, to experience the local culture and interact with the village's inhabitants. Access can be done via farryboat, in speedboats or by having fun in kayaks.
ABOUT THE LOCAL CLIMATE
Due to our proximity to the equator, around 300km to the south, we do not have a wide range of temperatures, during the day around 33° degrees, during the night around 27° degrees. It rains between January and May, strong winds between July and November.
BEST TIME TO DO THIS TOUR
The CASA DA FARINHA kayak tour can be done all year round, during the rainy season, the river is calmer, during the dry season, between July and November, the winds are stronger, making paddling more demanding. However, due to the tide, our departures are carried out according to the tide table.

The tour can be carried out in the morning or in the afternoon. The Costa Leste team picks up the participants and takes them to the departure location, always coordinated according to the tide table of the Preguiças River. The paddle lasts an hour and a half between going from town to the village of Tapuio, and then back. The tour has a break at the local river beach, and visits Casa Farinha, with a presentation by cultural guide Zé Maria. Return to the city after the presentation.
The tour is carried out in a group or privately.
