The 1-Day Ecological Trekking itinerary was developed for those who enjoy a good walk in the morning, a short route of just 20km in distance, visiting all the local biomes, the main attractions of the city of Barreirinhas. Your departure takes place at 4 am, the walk takes place in two stages: The first, a walk through the Restinga, our resistance forest, with a rich fauna and flora with a lot of diversity of plants and animals, the second stage, a walk over the dune field, enjoying crystal clear lagoons and beautiful landscapes of the only humid desert on the planet
GEOGRAPHY AND LOCATION
The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, has a territorial area of 1,550 square km, is located in three municipalities in the state of Maranhão. Two degrees south of the equator, its territory is divided between the municipalities of Barreirinhas with 53% of the area, the municipality of Santo Amaro with 36% of the area, and the municipality of Primeira Cruz with 11% of the area. The park was created on June 10, 1981. Its geological age is around 400,000 years, the desert moves according to the direction of the wind, from East to West, somewhere between 10 and 50 meters per year. Its lagoons come from the rain that floods the Maranhão water table. Between May and June, some lagoons reach very high water levels, which causes the dune barriers to break, creating a burst of running water that heads towards the ocean, thus ending the life and beauty of some flooded regions. . The organism is ephemeral and provides us with different landscapes at different times throughout the year.
ABOUT THE LOCAL CLIMATE
Due to our proximity to the equator, around 300km to the south, we do not have a wide range of temperatures, during the day around 33° degrees, during the night around 27° degrees. It rains between January and May, strong winds between July and November.
BEST TIME TO DO THIS TOUR
The 1-Day Trekking can be done throughout the year, however, we consider the best time to be between April and September, the lagoons are full, connected forming the landscapes that everyone would like to see.

ITINERARY, ECOLOGICAL TREKKING 01 DAY.
The Ecological Trekking departs daily from Barreirinhas, always at 4 am. Arrival at Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is done on foot, valuing the resistance forest of our restinga. Upon arrival at the dune field, breakfast is served, before the expedition continues over the dune field to our final point, the famous Lagoa Bonita. Upon our arrival at the objective, a typical lunch is served. Our return is carried out in 4x4 at the end of sunset.
The tour returns to the city of origin after sunset.
